Mayor Pro-Tem Minimize
Dave Hunsaker was appointed to the City Council in March of 2004 to fill a council vacancy, and was elected in November 2004, 2008, 2012 & 2016.  Dave serves on the DeWitt Area Recreation Authority (DARA), the Parks, Recreation & Cemetery Commission and the Construction Board of Appeals.  Dave was appointed as Mayor Pro-Tem in January of 2017.

Dave is a licensed master electrician and electrical contractor.  He is a certified substation technician and is experienced in high voltage power distribution.  He has been employed with General Motors since 18984 and is an elected representative of the U.A.W.  His current assignment is at the Lansing Regional Stamping Plant in Delta Township where he works with industrial automation and robotics.

Dave and his wife Karen have lived in DeWitt since 1990.  They have two adult children, Madeline & Mark.  Dave enjoys reading, primarily American history, and bicycling.

 
Council Member Mathew Cooper Minimize
Matthew Cooper was appointed to City Council in July of 2015 to fill a council vacancy and elected to council in November 2016.  Prior to his appointment to City Council, Matthew serves as a member of the Planning Commission and the Downtown Development Authority.  Matthew currently owns and operates a CPA firm downtown (Matthew Accounting, PLLC).

Matthew is a graduate of Michigan State University School of Business.  He holds a B.A. in business with a Major in Accounting.  His Previous work experience includes the finance department of Northwest Airlines and the Audit department of Deloitte & Touche.  Matthew and his wife Gina reside in DeWitt with their three children, Everett, Elin & Charlotte.  he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, running and following MSU sports.

 
Council Member Trevor VanDyke Minimize
Trevor VanDyke was appointed to City Council in March 2016 and elected to Council in November 2016. Prior to his appointment to City Council, Trevor served as a member on the DeWitt Area Recreational Authority.

Trevor is the Director of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Office of the Department of natural Resources.  He has been with the DNR since 2012.  His previous work experience includes Account Executive at Wells Fargo Financial, Legislative Director and Chief of Staff within the Michigan Senate.

Trevor holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Hope College in Political Science, with a minor in Management, and Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Trevor and his wife Katie reside in DeWitt with their three children, Chloe, Ava, and Judah. He enjoys spending time with his family and the outdoors.

 
Council Member Frank Waters Minimize
Frank Waters was elected to City Council in November 2016.  Frank is the Director of the Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs for the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.  Previously Frank has held positions in both the Michigan House of Representatives and Senate, as well as, working in the Office of Governor John Engler.  Frank is a proud graduate of Western Michigan university.

Frank and his wife Taryn reside in DeWitt with their two children, Evelyn and Grant.  In his free time he enjoys spending time wiht his family, taking advantage of the great lakes and following college football, particularly the WMU Broncos.

 
Council Member Jennifer Whitman Minimize
Jennifer Whitman was appointed to City Council in June 26, 2017 to fill a council vacancy.

She previously served on the Downtown Development Authority.

Jennifer is chiropractor and local business owner of Downtown Dewitt Chiropractic and Massage.

Jennifer attended Olivet Nazarene University for her undergraduate education and has her Doctor of Chiropractic from Life University.

Jennifer and her husband Rich have loved living in the City of Dewitt since 2004. They have 3 children; Elijah, Olivia and Jeremiah. The family enjoys exploring our beautiful state and are coffee and food enthusiasts.

 
Council Member Denise Donohue Minimize

Denise Donohue was elected to City Council effective January 2019.  Previously, Denise served on the Downtown Development Authority and was an original member of the city's Tree Commission in 1990's.

Denise is executive director of the County Road Association of Michigan, serves on the Clinton County Solid Waste Authority and faculty at Lansing Community College.  She was previously executive director of the Michigan Apple Committee in DeWitt Township.

Denise has lived in the city for 30 years, is married to MSU professor Dr. William Donohue and has a blended family of six sons.  She holds a M.A. in Journalism and a B.S. in Horticulture, from Michigan State University's Honors College.  She is a member of the DeWitt YMCA and DeWitt's Northpointe Church. Denise is a frequent community volunteer, enjoys walking, biking and running throughout the city.
